Denise Aldous is our Personality of the week. She has been working with the Samoan business community for many years in helping turn ideas into bankable project documents to seek funding from the banks and private investors.
Denise Aldous was recently appointed as General Manager, South Pacific
Project Facility (SPPF).
Denise joined IFC in 1993 as an Investment Officer with SPPF based in Sydney,
Australia. In that role she has raised finance for SME projects across all
business sectors in a number of Pacific Island countries and has managed a large
number of capacity building projects. Her experience and networks in the SME
area in the Pacific region are extensive and well developed and extend from
investment and technical support projects, through privatization to establishing
a small venture capital fund involving the ADB, the IFC and seven other
financial institutions. A notable achievement was the decision by the Government
of Samoa, a recipient country of SPPF services, to commit funding to SPPF based
on the value of Denise's work in Samoa.
Prior to joining IFC, Denise worked for 24 years with the Bank of New Zealand in
New Zealand where she held a number of senior management positions in retail and
corporate/investment banking, and in human resources. Denise has a Master of
Business Administration – Distinction, Marketing/Human Resources/International
Business from Massey University, New Zealand.
