Leao Akeripa Toalepaialii
Transformation from a technician to a top
sports administrator has seen Leao Akeripa Toleapaialii becoming the President
of the Samoa Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (SASNOC). Leao Akeripa started his working career
as a telecommunications technician with the
revelant technical credentials from New Zealand. Leao Akeripa was a top rugby
player in his young days. After working for Department of
Post and Telecommunications he set up his own electronics business. However,
when an opportunity opened up for the Manager of the Apia Park Board he applied
and got the position, starting his new career in sports administrations. in 2000
Leao Akeripa Toleapaialii became the President of the Samoa National Olympic
Committee after a long drawn out internal debate among the country's sports
bodies.. After settling down, Leao Akeripa is now working on bringing together the national sporting bodies.
In his own quiet and modest way, Leao Akeripa will become the leading national
sports administrator for a lomg time if he succeeds in his goal of getting
everyone involved in sports to work together in Samoa
Leao Akeripa is from an extended family with well known sports men like Taufusi
Salesa and Paul Wallwork.A
