Ms Manamea Apelu

Our personality of the week is Miss Manamea Apelu, the newly crowned Ms Samoa 2001/2002. She is named  after her late grandmother, a traditional healer of her time, and well known member of the Vineula.

Manamea at 25 years old was the oldest contestant for this year’s pageant and her maturity came through in her interviews and general mannerisms. Her  interests lie in the environmental issues of the Pacific region .She is in the course of completing her final year of an Environmental Science degree through distance learning with the University of the South Pacific.

The United Nations Development Programme currently employs me as a National United Nations Volunteer.

Manamea will now prepare herself for the Miss South Pacific pageant next month, at which she will be the only Samoan contestant, unlike the previous pageants where there were more than one Samoan contestant.
