Compaq Computer New Zealand Ltd. and Advanced Computer Solutions, better known locally as ACS, today jointly announced the appointment of ACS as Compaq Computer’s Authorised Service Agents in Samoa.
Dr. Peter Bendinelli, director of ACS, announced that ACS shall have at its disposal technical data for the repair and servicing of Compaq products as well as having exclusivity to supply Compaq replacement parts and accessories in Samoa. He also announced that ACS plans to market a line of Compaq products in Samoa including laptop and desktop computer systems, servers, printers, monitors, scanners as well as accessories and replacement parts.
In September 2000, ACS sent two technicians to Auckland, New Zealand for technical training at the Compaq Training Centre. One of them, Pieter Nieuwenhuizen III of the Hawkesbury Valley in NSW, Australia, completed the Compaq training modules, including desktops and servers, and passed the external assessments given by Compaq’s recognized independent testing agency. He is now licensed for one year as an Accredited Compaq Technician.
In anticipation of being appointed Compaq’s service agent in Samoa, ACS went through a restructuring in early January. Pieter Nieuwenhuizen was promoted to head the computer services division and Nicky Chan Mow moved up to become ACS’s senior computer technician. Mrs. Sisilia Schnautz assumed the responsibilities of Executive Secretary and office manager, while James Key was retained as head of the electronics repair division.
Speaking about today’s announcement, Dr Bendinelli said, “We are immensely pleased to have been appointed Compaq’s Authorized Service Agent for Samoa. With the new technical team we have in place at ACS, we plan to aggressively promote and service the Compaq brand while continuing to service other brands which are also being marketed in the public arena.”
He went on to say that there were some Compaq resellers already in Samoa and that he hoped with Compaq’s appointment of ACS as its Service Agent and by knowing that technical support and replacement parts will now be available in Samoa, existing resellers, who already appreciate the high quality of Compaq products, will be encouraged to move forward more confidently and more aggressively with their marketing strategies to make Compaq the dominate player in the Samoan market.
Dr. Bendinelli stressed that users of Compaq products in Samoa should register those products with ACS, whether those products are under warranty or not, as soon as possible so that those products can easily be identified for servicing when the need arises. ACS has already started developing a Data Base for Compaq products in Samoa to ensure Compaq users receive quick and efficient servicing in the minimal time possible.
ACS is located on Convent Street at the back of the Carruther’s Building, Matafele.
