Samoalive salutes Cecilia Ah Leong with her inspirational life story for other mothers to learn from. Its rare anywhere in the world to be a mother of 18 children and still be one of the successful business woman .

This week’s Samoalive Personality of the Week is Cecilia Ah Leong (née Peseta A. Sio). Born on the 13th of September 1952, Cecilia now resides in the village of Leauvaa.

Cecilia is the manageress of the popular Pinati’s Restaurant in Apia. She was educated at St Joan of Arc, Leulumoega and then at St Mary’s College, Vaimoso. After her secondary education, she left for New Zealand on a 3 year scholarship to study nursing at Whangarei Base Hospital.  

What were the main highlights of your career?

“The experience of working for the people; to come into contact with the customers; and also the success of the business as it is right now”.

Cecilia also stated that the most important thing that she always treasure is that this business (restaurant) has contributed to the education of her 18 children where now one is a doctor, another with a bachelors degree in Agriculture, two in the Fiji School of Medicine and one pursuing for a BSc in Technology and Computer Science.

“My main goal is to get a business degree (i.e MBA)”. Another ambition is to open other outlets to cater for different markets.
