This week’s Samoalive Personality of the Week is Aumua Mataitusi Simanu. Aumua Mataitusi was born on the 24th of February 1921. Aumua Mataitusi is from the village of Saoluafata in Samoa but lives in Kaneohe, Hawaii.

Aumua Mataitusi teaches Samoan Ceremonial Speeches and Samoa Oral Traditions at the University of Hawaii.

Her formative education years were in the Primary school in Samoa. After primary school years in Samoa, she went to Teachers College, and then carried on to Victoria University.

§       Assistant Principal Teachers College at Malifa.

§       Principal Vaisala Primary School, Anoamaa Falealili, Falelatai Junior High.

§       School Inspector Sagaga District, Ailepata district, Anoamaa District Vaimauga District.

§       Coordinator for the early child education.

When I come back to Samoa I want to establish a school. I’m thinking of establishing a Samoan school for Samoan children in Hawaii or Samoa”.
